Last week I posted this photo on my page in Facebook, standing outside of a building numbered 242. I asked my readers if they to identify the building. So here is the answer. I visited the so-called Rockefeller Guest House, located on 242 East 52nd Street. Built between 1929 and 1950 for Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller, this ultra sophisticated icon is one of the earliest examples of Mies’s modernism in NYC. The Rokefellers gave it to MoMA in 1955 and it was given landmark status in 2000.
