Congratulating Brian J. McCarthy for the feature of his sophisticated and ultra tasteful Manhattan home in Veranda Magazine, under the title “High-Style Traditionalism,” which captures so well his style. Although known for his classically inspired interiors, McCarthy is a collector of modern design, contemporary art and photography. His highly personal collection is comprised of objects by such known designers as Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne as well as by undiscovered young talents. To him, art is a key component of the interior, and this concept is well expressed in his own home as well as in homes he designed across the globe.
Objects and works of art are in constant dialogues with each other and with their interior space. I particularly love the chocolate-colored glazed wall in the dining room and the photograph of the bedroom, showing his dog Daisy, who is best friend of my own dog Terry. All photographs Max Kim-Bee.
