The New York Post announces that Casa Casuarina, on Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, the mansion, once owned by Gianni Versace will be auctioned off next month. Built in 1930, this grand home with its famous mosaic pool lined with 24-karat gold has been offered for sale since last year for $125mm. It is known for its frescos, ornate statues, arched doorways and an open air courtyard.
After Versace was killed in front of Casa Casuarina, it was turned into a hotel. While the mansion reflects the taste and style of grand classical homes built in Miami Beach during the 30s, I have to admit that I could never understand the aesthetic choices when it came to the interiors, which were done by the late designer who was known for his passion for the Baroque.
