This week session in the Tel Aviv edition of the program Collecting Design will be devoted to collecting French Art Deco furniture. Named after the Exposition des Arts Decorative which was opened in Paris in 1925 and showcased a new and modern mode in design and decorative arts, Art Deco came to represent a the renewal of France as the world’s capital of taste and style. The Paris 1925 exhibition had marked a defining moment and a catalyst for the spread of the modern style. It was not conceived as a World Fair, but was rather dedicated to modern decorative arts, bringing together European design at the forefront of tastemaking. Here are a couple of images from this iconic event.
