An exhibition to look forward to in 2015 is the first retrospective to be devoted to the work of British, London-based architect David Adjaye, opens in September at the Chicago Art Institute. Adjaye’s fascination with Africa has come to shape much of his agenda. With over 50 built projects across the world, interiors, and furniture, Adjaye is rapidly emerging as a major international figure in architecture and design. Rather than advancing a signature architectural style, Adjaye’s structures address local concerns and conditions through both a historical understanding of context and a global understanding of modernism. Of African ancestry and raised in Africa, the Middle East, and England, Adjaye now has offices in London, New York, Berlin, and Accra.
