Design Curio

The Design Curio is one of the more exciting programs in the landscape of the collectible design fairs. This platform, which was initiated by Design Miami/ in 2014, comes to provide designers and curators with an opportunity to present installations in the format of cabinets of curiosity within the Fair. Here is an early look at three of the upcoming showcases. Lizworks’ ‘Time for Oatmeal with the Campana Brothers,’ is a site specific and sensory experience conceived in collaboration with Fernando and Humberto Campana, which comes to reimagine food as material and material as food; Moscow-based Crosby Studio’s ‘Stavropoli,’ is an installation of furniture inspired by Izba, the traditional log house found in Russian farmsteads, crafted by Russian tinsmiths and metalsmiths; Shaker furniture, never seen before at Design Miami/ will be presented by John Keith Russell, and with its modern sensibility, it will be a perfect new addition to the general roaster of the fair.
