Tel Aviv is a city full of opportunities to experience art. I was invited to the opening of a show entitled “Design Underground,” curated by the great Shulamit Bauman at the Banyamini Ceramic Center. It comes to address the notion of the new relationship between designers/industry/users in the light of the disposable corporate culture. I particularly liked the piece by Eitan Bartal, which looks like a presentation in one can typically see in windows of large stores worldwide. It consists of daily appliances, where the artist juxtaposes the temporary with the timeless, the cheap disposable objects with materiality of ceramics.
