Suzy Slesin is one of the more ambitious publishers of design and design-related book. I was first introduced to her publication with the memorable publication "Helena Rubinstein: Over the Top," which presented a fresh look at the cosmetic icon's taste. Now,
Slesin's publishing house, Pointed Leaf Press has come out with a book on the California mid-century designers Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman, who for nearly six decades worked together and took key role in developing California Modernism. Entitled "Hand-In-Hand," By Dan Chavkin and Lisa Thackaberry, with forward by Jonathan Adler, this monograph comes to explore the oeuvre of the two, which included weaving, ceramics, wood carvings, and mosaics, shown in many of the California design shows of the postwar years.
