Loved reading Bella Neyman's article "The (America) House that Ms. Webb Built" in the Magazine Antiques, about the visionary gallery on Madison Avenue, which promoted and displayed Studio Furniture in the 60's. It is particularly relevant these days as there is so much work by Paul Evans offered next week in the New York design auctions. Evans's involvement with America House helped launch his career, she suggests. The founder, Ms. Webb was Evans patron, and it is here that together with his partner Phillip Lloyd Powell that Evans had an exhibition in 1961. Here are a couple of examples of Evans' great pieces in next week's sales.
