Congratulating Todd Merrill for a great new website. It is well designed, fabulously organized, features high res photographs, and reveals the extensive collection of the gallery. For Phillip Lloyd Powell, the lesser known craftsman/designer and participant of the Studio Movement, who was based in New Hope until he died in 2008, I found a couple of pieces I love. Particularly, I admire the pair of silvered-walnut, mirrored screens, which he created in 2000. To me, this design motif, which Powell developed in the very early stage of his career and adapted to many of his pieces, is the most intriguing elements of his personal language. It becomes richer and even more interesting when silvered, which in this case, done with the application of aluminum leaf.
