I am excited to announce that Cassina, the Italian furniture company has become a sponsor of my program Collecting Design: History, Collections, Highlights, joining Cultured Magazine and DeTnk. Some of Cassina's furniture has become collectible, when produced
in limited edition. A great example is the magnificent sideboard which Gerrit Rietveld designed in 1919, produced one which has been long destroyed, and which Cassina produced in 1970. While the production was found extremely complex, the company ceased the production; one of the only ten produced is found in the Michael Boyd's collection, which was featured by AD in the photo below. It was sold in 2008 in Dorotheum for $74K.
