Robert Wilson’s Glass

Laffanour Galerie Downtown, the Parisian gallery presents an exhibition devoted to glass sculptures by Robert Wilson, the Watermill-based renowned artist and stage designer. We learn that since the 1994, Wilson has been engaged with creating glass, each unique, each is shaped differently, each abstract, each architectural. Through a closed collaboration with SIRVA (Centre International de Recherche sur le Verre et les Arts Plastiques), the International Glass Center based in Marseille, Wilson succeeded in creating non-transparent pieces that are glowing in the dark background of the gallery, as dramatic and as dazzling that his stage design. They may have been inspired by the glass which Italian architect Carlo Scarpa designed in his years at Venini.
