Last year, German designer Sebastian Scherer introduced a series of cubistic furniture made of colored sheets of glass. Called “Isom,” they create an optical illusion. He also introduced a series of lamps in the shape of diamonds, each bears 12 facets and thus plays with reflections. This year in Milan, he is introducing his “Iris” lamps, which was one of the finalists in the second annual Lexus Design Award. The award, which draws tremendous attention, comes to challenge designers from around the globe to submit product ideas based on the theme of curiosity, just like the mystical cabinets of curiosity of the Renaissance. "Iris," which was mentored by Robin Hunicke is created of hand-blown glass with iridescent shimmering coating.
