Polyethylene, a special type of plastic, was invented in 1942. There was one man, chemist Earl Tupper, who knew immediately that this new plastic can revolutionize the way Americans lived in the postwar years. He first produced bathroom drinking glasses in various colors. and then moved on to create lidded bowls, and made history. While first sold in retail stores, a new marketing idea, the legendary Tupperware Party had moved him into an international fame; by 1958, Tupper sole his company for approximately sixteen million dollars.
