You all know that I love Prada. Love its shoes, handbags, accessories, and stylish, so well-designed fashion. But this time I am talking about a different type of Prada, the Prada Marfa, a brilliant art installation that was done by Elmgreen and Dragset, on the road leading to Marfa, Texas., where I have visited this morning. It was designed to resemble a Prada storefront, with the mint green Prada color and with a display of shoes and handbags, selected and provided by Miuccia Prada herself from the fall/winter 2005 collection.
Why is it brilliant? Because it is sensational, because everyone talks about it, and most people stops here on the way to Marfa; because it is one if the quirkiest places I have ever seen; and because, with its Minimalist aesthetic sensibility, the Marfa Prada acts like an introduction to the Donald Judd’s project in Marfa.
