Bill Cunningham is one of NYC's most colorful and loved personalities, known for his legendary column on fashion in the New York Times and for a recent documentary that chronicles his life and work. Now, the New York Historical Society is opening a show "Bill Bunningham: Facades," featuring another, less known project undertaken by Cunningham. He began documenting the architectural riches and fashion history of New York City in 1968, documenting the city’s thrift stores, auction houses, and street fairs for vintage clothing. The show brings also photographs of his muse, fellow photographer Editta Sherman wearing period costumes with historic settings.
