Congratulating German-Icelandic design duo Studio Brynjar & Veronika and their Galerie Kreo for receiving the 2016 Swarovski Designers of the Future Award, a major contemporary design award, which will be unveiling at the 11th edition of Design Miami/Basel in June. The award, supported by Swarovsky, offers a new generation of talents the opportunity to develop projects on a large scale and to explore resources that are often unattainable for emerging practices. I have first seen the work of Studio Brynjar & Veronika at Galerie Kreo and immediately fell in love for its narrative deeply rooted in their own tradition, the Icelandic culture. The use of mixed media, an extensive research, and the dialogues with environments around them, all define the work of Studio Brynjar & Veronika, recently created in collaboration with such enterprises as Fondation d'entreprise Galeries Lafayette, Galerie kréo, CIRVA, Manufacture de Sèvres, PCM, and Spark Design Space and Camper.
