Design Scandinave @Artcurial

The Parisian auction house Artcurial has introduced ambitious and curated sales of Scandinavian Design a couple of years ago, and its upcoming one (May 31st) is divided into three sections, each represents one of the three Nordic countries presented in the sale: Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. In the Swedish section, the sculpted chair by Gösta Gustaffson along with an Easy chair by Sten Blomberg for the Nyköping theatre are particularly noted, as well as a floor lamp by Hans Bergström and a pair of spectacular wall lights for the Rio cinema of Örebro par Bertil Brisborg. The unique chandelier (above), designed by Carl Axel Acking, one of the most important Swedish light ever presented at an auction, has an important provenance as it was created in 1939 for the Swedish pavilion at the New York World’s Fair.
