Kinder MODERN and the Creative Child

Raising creative, imaginative children of great taste and substance has always been an important part of parenting to me. When my sons were growing up during the 90s, it meant to be living with fine design; touring historic houses in various parts of the world; visiting museums; serving beautiful food in fine china on a stylish dinner table. Today, it means Kinder MODERN. Founded by Lora Appleton, the focus of this unique showroom is stylish child design for those appreciating design. Started with vintage child furniture primarily dated to the mid-century, Kindern MODERN has recently emerged, like many mainstream design galleries, into producing innovative contemporary children furniture. This week, I was invited with my group to spend a morning with Appleton and experience the world of creative stylish child design. Whether wicker furniture from late Victorian years, Danish modern, American postwar plywood pieces, contemporary furniture crafted in small editions of innovative materials, or amazing rugs of strong graphic patterns, we were surrounded by the type of furnishings which cultivate imagination, craftsmanship, and creativity. It is where every parent can comprehend the power of the physical object to inspire the emotional and imaginative life of children. Thank you, Lora Appelton for hosting us and for a stimulating morning.
