Thank you, James Zemaitis for participating in my program on collecting design this morning and for sharing your passion and expertise in mid-century Nordic design in the most charismatic fascinating presentation. We spent some time discussing the "Clam chair,” which has recently been acquired a star status in the international auction market, which Danish designer Philip Arctander (1916-1994) designed in 1944. According to a research by Bruun-Rasmussen, Copenhagen’s leading auction house, the chair was first presented at the newly-opened furniture store NY FORM A/S in Copenhagen; the 'Clam chair' was offered at minor Danish auctions for years, mistakenly attributed to Martin Olsen, and was priced around DKK 1,500, before it began in 2008, selling today at $20-30K. The market if full of copies and its important to get the advice of an expert before acquiring Arctander's 'Clam Chair.'
