One Rare and Glamour Table

It will definitely become the highlight of the upcoming collectible design auction season, the newly-discovered dining table, designed by Isamu Noguchi for the Weston CT home of fashion photographer Milton Greene in the late 40s, and offered by Wright in its Important Design sale on June 7th. The other auction houses will find it hard to compete with the glamour provenance of this highly important and rare piece of mid-century furniture. The biomorphic table, composed of carved wooden legs and pink marble top, will be documented and analyzed by art scholar Dr. Deborah Goldberg in the catalog which can be ordered now, and I cannot wait to learn more surprising facts about its biography. While it was often seen in fashion photographs at the home of the photographer, along with the other pieces of furniture created by Noguchi, this dining table was thought to be lost.    All images are taken from the Wright’s catalog.
