One of the most magical and beautiful homes of the past century, Palais Stoclet in Brussels. Adolphe Stoclet, the patron, came from a wealthy family of bankers, and along with his young family, he spent the years 1903-04 in Vienna on business. An art lover and collector, he was introduced to Josef Hoffmann and commissioned plans for a house to be built in Vienna. However, because of his father's sudden death Stoclet had to return to Brussels in 1904, and brought Hoffmann to create a house in Brussels, which was built between 1905 and 1911 by the Werkstatte, based upon the notion of creating an entire work of art, a building which as a whole, both interior and exterior.
